Orthoclase

K(AlSi3O8)IMA symbol: Orapproved

Orthoclase is a silicate mineral with the formula K(AlSi3O8), crystallizing in the monoclinic system. It has a Mohs hardness of 6-6.5, typically colorless, white, gray or green in color, with a vitreous luster, a specific gravity of 2.5-2.62. Its streak is red.
