Samarskite-(Y) is an oxide or hydroxide mineral with the formula YFe3+Nb2O8, crystallizing in the orthorhombic system. It has a Mohs hardness of 5-6, typically black in color, with a resinous or vitreous luster, a specific gravity of 5.6-5.8. Its streak is brown or red.
