Saponite is a silicate mineral with the formula (Ca,Na)0.3(Mg,Fe)3(Si,Al)4O10(OH)2·4H2O, crystallizing in the monoclinic system. It has typically white, gray, green or red in color, with a greasy luster, a specific gravity of 2.24-2.3. Its streak is white.
