Staurolite

Fe2+2Al9Si4O23(OH)IMA symbol: Stgrandfathered

Staurolite is a silicate mineral with the formula Fe2+2Al9Si4O23(OH), crystallizing in the monoclinic system. It has a Mohs hardness of 7-7.5, typically black, brown, red or yellow in color, with a resinous or vitreous luster, a specific gravity of 3.65-3.75. Its streak is gray or red; cleavage is distinct.
