Wurtzite is a sulfide or sulfosalt mineral with the formula ZnS, crystallizing in the hexagonal system. It has a Mohs hardness of 3.5-4, typically black or brown in color, with a resinous luster, a specific gravity of 5.3-5.65. Its streak is brown.
